In My Wedding Emergency Kit… {v.I}

More often then not, people gasp when they see “Just.in”, my big beautiful yellow rolling Professional MakeUp Case.  Perfect as an Emergency Kit to easily tote all the fix-it tools I bring to an event…just in case.

For a very important day like a wedding, its absolutely better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it, right?!

So here are just a few items I include:

Gaffers Tape Very useful for those unruly children.  🙂  (I really loved the playfulness of this pic, thank you to jwlphotography)  Gaffers Tape is most commonly used in production for taping down loose cables…a must have for events so guests do not trip, not to mention having everything clean and organized.  I have it just.in case the DJ or other production vendor runs out or forgets.

Straws Make it much easier for my Bride to hydrate without messing up her lipstick.  Sometimes its the small things that make a big difference – no need for the potentially time consuming retouching.

Panty Liners I know, I know…obvious for that certain punctuation.  However have you ever thought of using them for the perspiring Groom?  Yep, a quick removal of the adhesive strip and attach to the inside of the Groom’s shirt underarms and voila not sweaty armpits.  By the way…most guys don’t know what they are by just looking, so if you’d don’t tell them, they won’t be reluctant to use. (maybe they’ll skip over this blog post)  🙂

Floral Tape This came in handy at one event where the Bride kept fluctuating her bridesmaids’ bouquet order.  There were 9 then 10, then 8, then 9.  I came in as Day-Of Coordinator and fortunately Just.in had Floral Tape because sure enough the bridesmaid she thought wasn’t going to be there showed up and we didn’t have enough bouquets.  I quickly gave the Jr. Bridesmaid’s bouquet to the additional Maid and pulled together a small bouquet out of 2 flowers borrowed from existing bouquets and a few silk flowers/leaves from the venue foyer arrangement…all just as we were lining up for the Processional.

Tide Pen / Stain Remover Lets just say, strawberries as a snack for the 2 year old flowergirl may not be the wisest of decisions.  Don’t let age fool you…had to use the same Stain Remover for a 30+ year old Bridesmaid who snacked on chocolate covered munchies just last month.

Real Love | April & Michael – Sweet Anticipation

I had the distinct pleasure of supporting a great couple in planning their wedding in Palos Verdes, California last week.

Their event was a-long-time-coming.  We originally set their date for September of 2009 and worked together for just under a year to get everything in order.  In the midst of the wedding plans, my very busy couple (who met while stationed in Afghanistan) started “over” full time jobs and my bride decided to join the Los Angeles Police Department.  Their commitment to excellence and service to the community meant, their wedding would be put on the back burner for a period of time until Academy Training was complete.

We began planning again towards the end of 2009 with a whole new design and location which proved to be an excellent choice for the cozy family atmosphere they wanted to have.  Their wedding became a very memorable, happy occasion for their family after enduring a few family losses over the Holidays.  This was a time for their families to reflect on the great times and build new fond memories starting with this festive Tuesday afternoon celebration.

I especially love this moment captured on this day because it shows a little of their quirky, fun loving side while still holding true to their history and family heritage.  This headless shot builds an anticipation for me I was not expecting.  As much as I can’t wait to see the images from the day, this image perfectly captures the essence of what my couple would say throughout the planning process …its not about them.

Has nothing to do with Weddings…but my babygirl just loves Princess and The Frog

Like I said…nothing about weddings or event planning (unless you need a wedding singer).  Brooklyn decided to put on her Tiana’s dresses and give us a show.  I think its time for her classes in stage presence…her personality is officially evolved.

So look how fun this is…

One of my clients’ sister is getting married in a couple months and I just love her new app. Weddingbook. It marries Facebook and The Knot, giving brides and their family/friends access to special wedding details including their Wedding Party, Guest List, Wedding Countdown, To Do Lists and Guestbook. I wish I was getting married again (to the same man of course) so I can create a Weddingbook for myself.
